My online friends might be wondering where I’ve been for the past few days knowing that I’m very fond of updating my blog. As much as I wanted to publish my thoughts and emotions, I don’t have enough time to do so. Rather, time and strength. It has been a week since my grandma passed away. I’ve been busy days and nights with my family duties. The vigil corrupted me of outside world. I felt I was enclosed in a coffin, too.
God has been so kind enough to grant my secret wish. HE let granny die while I was at home. I’ve been very vocal to let them know about it saying that I don’t want to go home with funeral lights to welcome me. I wanted LIFE to embrace me for every monthly visit. What makes this homecoming different is the sad eyes of an old woman. My hugs and kisses are not enough to restore her back to health. It is very painful to see her gasp for his last breath. Yes, I was there on her last moment. I’ve seen how she tried to buy time from death. I’ve heard her say: “Not now…Not yet…Let me live until the end of this day…” She said those words since she’s aware that her sister and her daughter were still on their way to see her that same day. I was indeed lucky, I was never late. I know that she was not afraid to die. We had the so-called heart to heart conversation the day before her death. We were able to reminisce the old times. I was in deep tears when she leaned on my shoulder and spoke her loving request. She wanted me to take care of my parents and my siblings. She need not tell me. Being the eldest, I know how to deal. I was able to tell grandma how much I love her:
Lola: Wag nag umiyak apo ko. Namamaga na mata mo.
Liz: Eh pano, ayoko pa kayong mawala. Alam nyo namang mahal na mahal ko kayo. Di ba kahit nung mga bata pa kami.
(And I cried even more…)
Lola: Ay sa paanhin kung ako’y kinukuha na. Di ga’t kagusto kong kasama pa kayo..
*sniff*
Tears ended our conversation. I did not realize that it will be my last time to hug her and talk to her. As I’ve said, I was never too late. She’s gone and I accept it. But I find it difficult not to think of her. What really bother me are the days to come… NO matter how much I tried to think that she’s in a better place called heaven, I can’t help but miss her…her love and care to her favorite grand daughter. Forever she’ll be me in my heart. And forever I’ll thank and love her. Grandma, may you rest in peace. See you there when my time comes.

“To realize one’s destiny is a person’s only obligation”
Synthesis:
This enchanting novel is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who ventures from his homeland in Spain to North Africa in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a beautiful young gypsy woman, a man who calls himself a king, and an alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the direction of his quest. No one knows what the treasure is or if Santiago can surmount the obstacles along the way through the desert. But what starts out as a boyish adventure to discover exotic places and worldly health turns into a quest for the treasures only found within. Lush, evocative, and deeply humane, Santiago’s story is an eternal testament to following our dreams and listening to our hearts.
Feedback:
The book resembles the concept of “The Secret” video clip and it is well written with the same style as Saint-Exupery’s The Little Prince. The story is dazzling and simple. It has philosophy and is spiced with colors, flavors, and subjects which will make you understand more about yourself and about life.
Quotable Quotes:
It is the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.
Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives but none about his or her own.
At a certain point of our lives, we lose control of what is happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.
Personal Legend – it’s what you have always wanted to accomplish.
If your start our by promising what you don’t even have yet, you’ll lose your desire to work toward getting it.
Every blessing ignored becomes a curse.
There was a language in the world that everyone understood: language of enthusiasm, of thing accomplished with love and purpose, and as part of a search for something believed in and desired.
“When you want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it.”
(This is almost the same as THE SECRET’s concept)
In Alchemy it is called the “Soul of the World” which states that:
“When you want something with all of your heart, that is when you are closest to the Soul of the World. It is always a positive force.”
Making a decision was only the beginning of things. When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he has never dreamed of when he first made the decision.
People need not fear the unknown if they are capable of achieving what they need and want.
If you can concentrate always on the present, you will be a happy man. Life will be a party for you, a grand festival, because life is the moment we are living right now.
When you are in love, things make even more sense.
To die tomorrow was no worse than dying on any other day. Everyday was there to be lived or to mark one’s departure.
It is not what enters men’s mouth that’s evil, it’s what comes out of their mouths that is.
Every search begins with beginner’s luck. And every search ends with the victors being severely tested.
The darker hour of the night comes just before the dawn.
There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.
Question to Ponder:
What is your personal legend?
(What is it that you have always wanted to accomplish?)

Bill Gates organized an enormous session to recruit a new chairman for Microsoft Europe.
5000 candidates assembled in a large room.
One candidate was MARIO DIMAYUGA.
Bill Gates: “Thank you for coming. We’ll do this by process of elimination to speed up the process. Those who do not know JAVA may leave.”
2,000 people left the room.
MARIO said to himself, “Naku! I do not know JAVA but I have nothing to lose if I stay. I’ll give it a try.”
Bill Gates: “Candidates with no experience managing more than 1000 employees may leave.”
2000 people left the room.
Mario said to himself, “Lagot! I never managed anybody but myself but I’m staying. What could happen to me?”
Bill Gates: “Candidates without management diplomas may leave.”
500 people left the room.
Mario said to himself, “Asus! I never even graduated, but what have I got to lose?”
So he stayed.
Lastly, Bill Gates asked candidates who did not speak Serbo-Croat to leave.
498 people left the room.
Mario says to himself, “Patay! Ano yon??? But I’ve gotten this far, I have to stay on.”
So he stayed and found himself standing with only one other candidate in the room. Everyone else had eliminated themselves.
Bill Gates joined both candidates and said: “Apparently you two are the only candidates with terrific management skills speaking Serbo-Croat, so I’d now like to hear you converse in that language.”
Calmly, Mario turned to the other candidate and said, “Kumusta ka, pare ko”
Without batting an eyelash, the other candidate replied, “Mabuti naman. Ikaw?
Let’s not focus on the credibility of the storyteller but on the moral lesson instead. LOL.
“Life is a battle of will, not a battle of skills.
So more often than not, the man who wins is the man who thinks he can.”
